Volunteering has its rewards: from learning to be a citizen, to giving unselfishly, to launching the production of serotonin (the feel-good hormone.) Volunteering together as a family is probably one of the most satisfying ways to share oneself, and get in the spirit.
Even Disney is Volunteering
There is a new program that Disney and the Muppet Studio are showcasing in magazine inserts. It portrays Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal and a host of other classic Muppet characters (now owned by Disney). They are teamed up in a labor of love; what looks to be a Habitat for Humanity house-building event.
Called "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day"this initiative inspires families to volunteer a day of service at a local organization. In return for their good work, they get a one-day complementary admission to a theme park (Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California.) Families must register first at Disneyparks.com
